Host Won’t Update MySQL

  • Hello folks.

    Recently I wanted to install MediaWiki in a sub-directory of my WordPress install. However, the host I am with uses MySQL 5.6, whereas MediaWiki needs 5.7.

    I contacted the host to ask if they are planning to upgrade and they said they are not (see their full response below). While it’s not a huge deal for the MediaWiki thing, I’m a bit worried that this might impact my ability to use the host for my site in the future.

    What are the chances that if my host doesn’t upgrade I won’t be able to use WordPress?
