• Hi fellows,

From a customer’s website renovation I just released yesterday, I discovered that PDFs thumbnails where not always generated and that it might depend on hosting provider, and therefore possibly from the server/php configuration?

I compared several websites running with the Divi theme or default WP themes and last WP versions (6.1 aprox.):

The ones hosted at Hostinger are generating the thumb and the ones hosted at OVH are showing the default document icon instead. On the media post, Hostinger website shows also the thumb with the PDF link and OVH’s, only the link.

    Any one confirming this situation?

Any idea on how to solve it or workaround?

    thanks

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

imagick must be installed and configured on the server in order for WordPress to generate PDF thumbnails.

Most hosting providers offer this, including our recommended hosting providers, but some curiously leave that out.

You can find out if imagick is missing from your server at Tools > Site Health in your site’s Dashboard. There will be an error if it’s not installed, and you can double-check as well there at Info > Media Handling.

If imagick is not installed, ask your hosting provider’s support to install it on your server, or move to a different hosting provider if they refuse.
