review removed because apparently I don’t know how to read a description…

TLDNR: I thought this was supposed to support multi.

But apparently it’s written in the description it does not and you need the premium

    Hey Stéphanie,

Multisite is indeed not compatible with the free plugin. I tried to make this as clear as possible by stating this in the description here, on the website and in the plugin.

I’m honestly quite sad to see your review. I work hard to give back to the WordPress community, amongst other things via my free plugins for over 10 years now. To get a 1-star review because my plugin doesn’t contain a feature you’d like it to have, feels not fair. There’s a real person behind these plugins and these kind of reviews do hurt.

    Kind regards,

    Barry Kooij

@inpixelitrust I have to agree with Barry here. It is very clearly stated in the description. And then for you to drop a negative review like this makes zero sense.

I’m a happy paying customer of the premium version of this plugin. And have been for as long as it is available.

10/10 would recommend to anyone needing a related posts for WordPress plugin that actually handles scaling, customizability, and flexibility. Free, premium, whichever you feel like using. Both do a fantastic job.

For me, from the desc, it’s not clear that multi site is not compatible.

Especially since I did not try to activate this from the multi site option, but from one single site.

    The docs says:
    Related Posts for WordPress Premium
There’s an even better version of this plugin that comes with the following extra features: WordPress Network / Multisite support”

For me, it doesn’t clearly say that it’s not working if you have a multisite and try to activate it for only one. It’s kind of “the user has to guess that the things in the premium are not included in the non premium” situation.

A lot of plugins (like updraft for example) require premium to support multi site. But still work on a single site. So, yeah, my mental model as a user is based on my experience and expectations from previous plugins. Maybe this makes “zero sense” to you @defries, but, this is how I understood (or did not understood) the description part.

Ideas to improve (because I don’t want @barrykooij to stay sad)

    • Say directly in the description it’s not going to work with multi (even if you only activate it for one site. In a clear way).
    • Maybe have a table comparing free / premium?

Sounds like it boils down to “What is WordPress in Multi-Site mode”. Having it in that mode transforms the site into mulitsite mode and it is that way even if you only have the root site. Or in this case, when you’re only doing things on one site inside a multisite.

I think it’s admirable you’ve adjusted your review and provided very valid feedback points to @barrykooij.

I hope my extra explanation here helps for future context ??
