With the latest Plugin-Update to v1.2.6 there is no custom domain setting any more. Because i’m using Plausible behind a proxy this is really necessary for tracking.

Will this be fixed in future updates?

    Thanks for reaching out Bernhard!

We removed the CNAME-based custom domain functionality because we deprecated it as it is no longer efficient. What we recommend these days is a proxy. We do plan to introduce the proxy functionality to the plugin in the next major release as that is a superior and more adaptable alternative to the custom domain.

You can read more about this change in this post: https://plausible.io/docs/proxy/introduction

Stay tuned for the next release which should have the proxy out of the box!

    Hi Marko!

Thank you for your response. I already love and celebrate the proxy functionality of Plausible, but as you say with a CNAME-based subdomain (https://stats.CLIENTWESITE.com) for a cleaner look. Now with the disabled custom domain setting, it looks like i have to manually embed the script instead of using the plugin for all my client websites. Am i right here (for the moment)?

    Best regards,
    Bernhard

You’re welcome! We no longer support CNAME-based subdomains so even without the plugin, it is a deprecated feature that should no longer be used. We only support the proxy now. The proxy allows you to run the script from whatever location you want too.
