We are trying to set up tickets commerce with our nonprofit Paypal Account. However, when we do that Liquid Web LLC doesn’t give us an opportunity to specify this is a nonprofit and wants to associate funds with an individual and their SSN — meaning presumably that they will get a 1099 for tickets sold during the year. The Paypal account we are using is a nonprofit and has the nonprofit’s EIN associated with it.

Is there another way to do this?

    Hi @jgold723

    Thanks for your response.

Upon checking, it seems nonprofit account is still considered a business account.

You’ll need to sign up for a business account and register as a nonprofit in order to receive donations.

If you already registered your business account as a nonprofit, then it should be okay to use your business account.

I hope this helps, and please let us know if you have further questions or concerns.

Thank you for the answer. We do have a business account with Paypal and we are registered as a nonprofit (and we are able to accept donations). However, when we try to connect Event Tickets to our Paypal Account, we are navigated through something called Liquid Web LLC, which prompts us to enter information already in our Paypal account and appears to treat us like a for-profit corporation. Liquid Web wants to assign ownership of the nonprofit to an individual and their SSN — which would mean they end up receiving a 1099 for ticket sales.

    Hi @jgold723,

Thanks for your response. I’d like to connect with you to talk about this and possibly have a screencast or meet to see what’s happening, as we couldn’t replicate it but heard from other non-profits having similar problems.

What would be the best way to reach out to you privately?

    Best,
    Juan.

Sure, I’d be glad to, although this week is pretty crazy. Is there a way I can get my email address to you via PM so we can make arrangements?

Feel free to contact my WP.org username [at] theeventscalendar.com, so we can coordinate something.

    Thanks,
    Juan.
