    Hi,

I am recently developing this site and I am required to change the Google Account owner for the Site Kit Google Analytics Plugin.

How am I able to do that without affecting the Site Kit information? I’m scared that if I change the gmail account, the GA will be unlinked as well.

Reason: The gmail account owner no longer works in the company.

    Thanks

    Hi there @isaaclaw96,

You’re right to be cautious if you’re using a shared administrator login from a Google account that has left the company. When using Site Kit, any administrator can login and set up the plugin. As long as they use their own Google account, and that account have been granted access at Analytics level (from someone who does have access) there should be no issues.

To ensure I understand your set up correctly and provide you with the most suitable suggestions based on this, please share the following:

    1. As it sounds like you’re already connected to Analytics (although connected via a Google account from a user who left the company), are you able to click on the Analytics link within the Site Kit dashboard, which directs you to the Analytics platform? I ask because if so, you can then grant access to that Analytics account and property to other users.
    2. Are you using a shared login for this site, all logging in via the same WordPress administrator account?

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

Hi there @jamesosborne ! Sorry for the late reply. Thank you so much for your reply and help. I really appreciate it.

I have tried your suggestions and here are the outcomes,

    1. I am unable to access the Analytics account as the sign-in is registered under the account of the user who already left the company. I’d probably need to contact the user and get them to grant access to other users. Is there any other way to reset the access?
    2. Yes, there seems to be only one account that is shared to this website which belongs to the WP admin.

    Thank you once again @jamesosborne

    Hi @isaaclaw96,

If another user has already set up Analytics with their own Google account, and they didn’t provide you with access to the connected Google account and property then unfortunately you will need to contact that user and ask them to grant access to your own Google account.

Yes, there seems to be only one account that is shared to this website which belongs to the WP admin.

If you are already logged in to this Google account that has access, have you tried clicking on the link within Site Kit, which directs you to that property? From there you may be able to grant access to other Google accounts.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

    Hi @jamesosborne ,

Thanks for the help once again.

Unfortunately the link within Site Kit is where I require the login credentials from the user that has left the company.

However, I have asked the owners of the site to reach out to said user to provide the necessary credentials for the Google Analytics.

Thank you very much for your help once again!

No problem, happy to assist where possible. Do let me know how you get on with requesting access from the other user. The other option is to disconnect the Analytics module and connect once more, this time to a Google Analytics account and property which you do have access to. You’ll need to do this from your own WordPress administrator account.

I can keep this support topic open for a few days if you wish, while you attempt to request access.

Hi @jamesosborne , thank you so much for the help. Unfortunately, in the midst of requesting access from the other user, the client (owner of the website) has acted up and decided to not continue with the site development thus causing me to no longer have access to the site.

Thank you once again for your support and time. Really appreciate it.

Sorry to hear that @isaaclaw96, and appreciate the follow up. Thank you also for helping us identify an area of potential improvement, with the same issue likely to impact others. We’ll work on that from the GitHub issue created, so thank you for your contribution to the plugin development, however intentional!

If you run into any further issues, or if you have any Site Kit queries, be sure to reach out. If you’re been using the plugin on other websites and you’re familiar with how it works be sure to also share your plugin feedback.
