Changing payment method in Mollie gives no tax on fee

This sounds like it could potentially be related to the report from this thread: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/btw-vat-not-added-to-order/

It may be a potential bug. But to verify this and learn more about it, it would help us a lot if you could share a screenshot of your tax configuration and an example order with the Mollie Support Team.

It seems that the customer changing payment method within the Mollie domain, doenst return the right tax-amount on the payment fee.

So ive got one order payed with creditcard, payment method didnt change within Mollie, which does get taxes calculated over the fee.

And another order where the customer started with a feeless payment method, changed within Mollie, paid the order and that order DOES have a payment fee, but no taxes calculated over that fee.

Creditcard payment method fee has:
Payment surcharge fixed amount in €: 0,30
Payment surcharge percentage amount %: 2

@renewmyid – Have you heard back from Support? I have contacted them and explained the problem, they are looking into it (they say), but for a week no answers. The problem still occurs. Our standard gateway is bank transfer, but customers can change to iDeal via Mollie. In that scenario, the gateway fee without BTW is added to the order correctly, but the BTW itself not. It’s a serious problem for us.

@rolftd no, i haven’t heared anything yet. Still hoping for an update to the plugin for this…

@renewmyid – If you disable the gateway fee in the Mollie Gateway settings and use this plugin instead, it will work: Payment Gateway Based Fees and Discounts for WooCommerce. Adding tax to the fee is an option in this plugin and you can even choose between different tax classes if you have them (BTW hoog – BTW laag e.g.). Works like a charm.

The Mollie developers should build something similar.

The team is looking into resolving the reported error with the fee not considering the taxes when changing the payment method for the next update. We found some more fee-related edge case problems and will resolve these, most likely in the update after the upcoming one.

But please note, the gateway fee setting in Mollie is meant to be fairly basic compared with third-party plugins that specifically implement fees.
The functionality in the Mollie plugin should serve some basic use cases, but a separate plugin may be advantageous when you require more customization, such as choosing a non-standard tax rate for the fees.
