I currently have a custom shopping cart that I’m looking for alternatives to. Currently I use Paypal WPS which I understand is scheduled for full retirement, so I thought maybe I should look at something more modular than the custom code I wrote years ago.

I want to see if this would be a good fit for WOO.

Items are already in their own custom post type, and each is a one of a kind item. I don’t want to inventory using Woo. I do however wish to make a custom add-to-cart button on my existing sales page(s) that will pass price, ID and weight of each item to a shopping cart.

So far I’m assuming this is do-able…

I would like to allow a 10% discount on all items after the most expensive one. Probably also do-able. Then may have to do my own custom shipping costs based on item count and weights. Some clients will pick items up.

I do know Woo is pretty customizable, but I’d like to get some idea what plugins might be needed to get this done they way I need it. Partly I’m thinking outloud.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello @ttremain,

I understand you have your own e-commerce-like integration and want to switch to WooCommerce.

I don’t want to inventory using Woo. I do however wish to make a custom add-to-cart button on my existing sales page(s) that will pass price, ID and weight of each item to a shopping cart.

As you’ve already mentioned, WooCommerce is built with customizability in mind, however, this is not something covered in our scope of support I’m afraid.

I encourage you to install WooCommerce on a staging environment and try testing things out yourself, if you’ve never used the plugin before, you can start from this guide and of course, if you run into any issues or have any questions please feel free to post them here or create a new thread. ??

I would like to allow a 10% discount on all items after the most expensive one.

You can add a discount from the product settings to any product you want, if you’re looking for a global discount, you can check the Bulk Discounts for WooCommerce extension.

I should note that all extensions sold on WooCommerce.com have a 30-day refund policy. If the product doesn’t work the way you need it or you think another product would work better, we are more than happy to provide a full refund.

Probably also do-able. Then may have to do my own custom shipping costs based on item count and weights. Some clients will pick items up.

By default, you can have more than one shipping method per shipping zone. For example, I can have a flat rate shipping rate that costs 10$ and another local pickup shipping method for free.

To learn more about WooCommerce shipping, you can refer to this guide.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.
