• Hi,

I made a www.ads-software.com website today through IONOS.

When setting up themes, I didn’t like it but it was so difficult to undo things, so I used a reset plug in and reset the website.

But after that, whenever I try to log to WordPress from IONOS with username, it says “The username?is not registered on this site” and with email, it says “Unknown email address”.

Interesting this is, I can log in if I start from www.ads-software.com, not by clicking WordPress on IONOS… does it mean that some link between IONOS and WordPress is broken?

I am very new to this website building world, so I can’t even think a way to fix this problem and start over!

Thank you very much for your help!

  • Hello, cheerietomoto & welcome. I’m not really very familiar w/Ionos & how it does things. I’m also not entirely certain what you mean when you say you can log in using www.ads-software.com but not ionos. Could you please tell us exactly what you’re doing in that situation?

Changing themes in WordPress is actually pretty straightforward. Just go to ‘Themes > Add New’, use the edit box to search for a theme you might like, & activate it. If you decide you don’t like it, just repeat the process till you find something that suits you. Or you can use the “live preview” function as well, though I’m not sure it provides quite as good a picture of what the site would look like using the theme.

    Hey @cheerietomoto,

your reset plugin might have deleted too much. I guess you are talking about the login through your IONOS control panel (known as SSO)? When using a reset plugin, this will be broken.

You can do the following things:

    1. Assuming your WordPress site is empty anyway, you can delete the complete instance, and create a fresh install using the control panel. This would be the easiest and quickest solution.
    2. You can log into your webspace using ssh, and create a new user using the wp cli. This will require a little technical knowledge, if you are not familiar with the command line, you might want to ignore this solution.
    3. You can contact the customer support at IONOS and ask them to repair the SSO.

    I hope this helps you.

    Greetings Christoph
