• I would like to know how I can add custom content to each category page in WordPress. I have a main category called “Wedding Venues” with numerous sub-categories such as Venue 1, Venue 2, Venue 3, and so on, up to Venue 100. The approach I’m considering is creating a custom category page using the site editor. However, this means I would have to manage a separate category template for each sub-category, resulting in over 100 custom category templates.

I’m unsure if WordPress imposes any limitations or if this approach could potentially slow down or disrupt the system.

Additionally, the dropdown menu would become lengthy if I need to change templates for other non-category pages or posts.

I prefer to explore alternative solutions rather than follow this route. Are there any recommended plugins or better advice for achieving this?

I came across the Enhanced Category Pages plugin, but its last update was in 2015. I appreciate your help in advance.

PS: I would like to achieve the final output of different contents (custom contents of wordings + images shown at the end of the queryloop of post listing) on different category pages. The layout can remain the same for all of the category pages.

    Thank you

Hi @ayambakar if Venue 1, Venue 2, Venue 3 are going to have different information you will need to work on each individually. However, to avoid having a lot of sub-categories + templates I would suggest structuring the content a little differently. For example, you can add each venue as a Post and assign it to a sub-category venue.

You can create one or a few templates for the venue posts but you will also have the option to add content to each post.

hi @thelmachido , thanks for your reply.

i understand with the example you advised above, creating a post or multiple posts for the venue and assign it to a sub category venue.

    resulting https://www.domainname.com/maincategory/venue1
for examples, when people click on the links above, it will generate some posts that was assigned into sub category venue1, but on top of that, on this particular page
    https://www.domainname.com/maincategory/venue1

i also want to include texts content, while showing the query loop posts that had been assigned to sub category venue1.

Can you assist further and advise if there is any other ways, other than those I mentioned on my 1st post above?. Thanks again

Hi @ayambakar I think there is a misunderstanding. You can have Wedding Venues as the Category, once that is done you can create posts for each wedding venue for example Venue 1, Venue 2, Venue 3.

Links to these posts will not include the subcategory, it will be structured as to your liking. The settings to change how the permalinks work can be found in Settings > Permalinks.

These posts for the Venues can also be added to the Wedding Venue Category using the Query Loop block. A site visitor will be able to see all the types of Wedding Venues you have from the posts listed there.

For the Venue posts, you can create one template all of them can use. On the template, you can add placeholder content like Post Title, Featured Image for posts etc. This content can be populated on each Venue Post. That is how I would do this, let me know if this makes sense.
