When I attempt to pull up my website or my admin panel, I get the critical error message. I checked my debug log and this was the error it reported:

[26-May-2023 19:37:44 UTC] PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Class “WP_Widget_Media_Audio” not found in /home/ii52nq66ke5s/public_html/wp-includes/class-wp-widget-factory.php:62

What do I need to you to fix this? Thanks.

Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel (consult your hosting provider’s documentation for specifics on these), navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. Hopefully, this will force the default theme to activate and rule out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

I tried both of your suggestions and neither one worked. What else can I do? I’ve tried replacing the core files multiple times and it hasn’t worked.

What version of PHP is your server running?

    8.1

That should be fine, but can you downgrade to PHP 7.4.8 to see if there’s any change?

    No change.

    Ok, let’s do a full proper re-install.

Try downloading WordPress again, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel (consult your hosting provider’s documentation for specifics on these), and delete then replace your copies of everything on the server except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings.

If you’d like to manually make a backup of your site first, please follow the steps at https://developer.www.ads-software.com/advanced-administration/security/backup/

Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.

Ok. I’m working on it now.

I replaced everything you told me to replace and it’s not working. I still can’t get into the admin panel.

Try a fresh install of WordPress under a subdomain on the same server (test.example.com).

Does the fresh install also fail to load?

    Thread Starter Hillary

    (@hillaryaa)

It does. I can pull up the homepage on the regular website. I still can’t pull up the admin panel. I can’t pull up the subdomain.

You can’t load the admin panel of the freshly installed WordPress on the subdomain?

    Thread Starter Hillary

    (@hillaryaa)

I can’t even pull up the subdomain page. I can’t pull up the admin panel on from the regular domain. I can pull up the regular home page.

Ok, that suggests there’s something seriously wrong with your server’s configuration, not WordPress.

Have you contacted your hosting provider’s support about this?

    (@hillaryaa)

Ok. I have and they haven’t been very helpful. I’ll try again with them. Thanks for your help!
