• I’ve posted about this a few times and no one on the other board has given even the slightest hint of help, so I thought maybe I am posting in the wrong place. I really need some help, or I will end up completely scrapping using the WordPress templates for my client and doing this by scratch using HTML, CSS and VB.Net instead.

My client likes the convenience of the Betround comment part of the template. The problem is that she wants several pages and on each page, we need a different sort of main body section. She wants a photo album and an “About us” section (just plain text – no comment boxes at all on the About page) and then the sidebars – which I have no problems with.

The problem is this…I can NOT find where to edit the main section of EACH individual page to remove the comment box and add in a photo album or a plain text area. I am NOT a .php programmer – I am a VB programmer so looking at the .php code is like trying to read Latin for someone who only knows Spanish…while I can understand some of it – I certainly can’t make heads or tails of where to remove the comment box from the additional pages in the template I have set up for her.

First, is that even possible to do or am I asking too much from a template? Second, if it is possible, can someone PLEASE point me in the right direction on how to do it? A tutorial, or an example would be very greatly appreciated!

    TIA,

    Coleen

  • You possibly need to look at creating some custom page templates. You might also want to read Theme_Development to gain a better understanding of how the theme templates work.

I have read through those. If I end up creating (re-creating) my own template – I might as well do this from scratch using a language & format that I am very familiar with and MUCH more comfortable with.

The whole idea of using a template is to make it easy to make changes. If I have to completely re-write this template, I don’t see ANY advantage to using WordPress vs. writing my own HTML and CSS for her. Thanks any way. I guess it’s time to scratch WP.
