Forminator uninstalled itself on update to 1.24.1

    I clicked “update” to bring Forminator to the latest version (1.24.1), and got the following error:

    An error occurred while updating Forminator: Could not copy file. forminator/addons/pro/trello/class-forminator-addon-trello-form-settings-exception.php

    And now Forminator no longer appears in my plugins. Trying to reinstall it gives an error, too:

    Installation failed: Destination folder already exists.

    Is there a way to resolve this? Does this mean that I’ve lost my saved forms?

  • Same here … a big issue

    EDIT : Go to your FTP and delete the Forminator folder (/wp-content/plugins/). Then, go back to wordpress and install the new version of Forminator !

    Deleting /wp-content/plugins/forminator via FTP and then reinstalling did indeed work, thank you no2s13!

    (This got me to learn how to use FTP, but I would hope that it’s being looked into, as it was a rather time-consuming quest to be sent on for simply clicking “update”, and it looks like it wasn’t just me having the issue)

    I hope you’re well today and sorry for late response.

    I tried to replicate the issue but I wasn’t able so far (tested on a few separate setup) so I’m honestly not yet sure what could have caused this but we’ll keep an eye on cases like this so if there are any more reported, we’ll take that to our developers.

    The workaround that @no2s13 suggested (thank you!) is the first thing I would suggest to as often such cases are really just “temporary glitches” – often caused by some connection or plugin repository outages – and simply removing and re-installing plugin is the simplest thing to do and usually works.

    However, as mentioned, we will keep an eye on this to see if there’s more such cases to make sure.
