Issue with Download Manager Plugin: PDF Files Not Opening in New Tab

I hope this message finds you well. I’m currently experiencing an issue with the Download Manager plugin on my WordPress multisite installation. Specifically, on the Dutch version of my site, PDF files are not opening in a new tab as intended.

I have verified that the “target=_blank” attribute is correctly set in the HTML code of the download links. However, when clicking on the download links, the PDF files are being downloaded instead of opening in a new tab.

Here are some additional details that might help in troubleshooting:

1. Multisite Configuration: My WordPress installation is set up as a multisite environment, and the issue is specific to the Dutch site.
2. Language Settings: I have confirmed that the Dutch language is properly configured and activated on the multisite installation. The language files for the Download Manager plugin are also up to date.
3. Compatibility Checks: I have temporarily deactivated other plugins and switched to a default WordPress theme to rule out conflicts, but the issue persists.
4. Theme Customization: I have not made any customizations to the theme templates or functions related to the Download Manager plugin.
5. Cache: I have cleared the cache, including any caching plugins and server-side caching, to ensure I’m seeing the latest version of the site.
