    Hi, I have woocommerce subscriptions plugin on this website and Go-cardless as the payment option for subscription orders. For one off purchases paypal is the payment method.

    We’ve encountered an issue with our GoCardless gateway for subscription payments, despite it being set up correctly. Until yesterday, it worked fine, but now we receive an error stating “no available payment methods support subscriptions”, even though one-off payments work as expected.

    Could you help us troubleshoot this urgent issue as it’s affecting our business operations?

    To use PayPal Payments with subscription products, the Vaulting feature must be enabled: https://woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-paypal-payments/#subscriptions-faq

    Following the latest update 2.1.0, this setting is automatically hidden when your PayPal merchant account does not have the required Vault approval (Reference Transactions). Previously, everyone could enable it on the plugin level, but it only really worked when the connected Paypal account has special approval.

    To enable the PayPal gateway for subscription products when you don’t see the Vaulting setting, you would need to navigate to WooCommerce > Settings > Subscriptions tab > check “Accept manual renewals”

    In that case, customers must manually confirm the renewal payments because saving the payment for automatic renewals requires Vault approval.

    The team is currently working on integrating and beta testing support for PayPal Subscriptions, which will eventually enable automatic renewal payments via PayPal without requiring Vault approval.

    But for now, automatic payments require the Vaulting feature, which in turn requires your PayPal account to be enabled for Reference Transactions.

    Thanks for getting back to me. This has now allowed Paypal as an option at the checkout. However I would like the subscriptions to be paid with Gocardless, is this another option?

    Thanks for your feedback. We are committed to helping with any issues related to the WooCommerce PayPal Payments plugin, but our ability to assist with GoCardless specifics is quite limited.

    I am not seeing the GoCardless gateway for any transactions, including one-time payments, on your site. Could you confirm that GoCardless has been set up and is active on your WooCommerce store?

    If you have any trouble with GoCardless, I would recommend reaching out to the GoCardless support team or the team of the respective plugin you’re using to integrate GoCardless with WooCommerce. They would be in a better position to assist you with issues specific to their services.

    With regards to the ‘Accept manual renewals’ setting – when enabled, all active payment gateways on your site should be available at the checkout for subscription orders. If no gateway other than PayPal appears, no other gateway is likely configured.

    If this setting is unchecked, only the payment gateways that support automatic renewal payments will be available. For example, PayPal Payments will only be available if the ‘Vaulting’ feature is active.     There is one thing I forgot to mention about the PayPal configuration: In the Standard Payments settings tab, you may need to change the Subscription capture behavior if Vault fails setting to Capture authorized payment & disregard missing payment method: https://woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-paypal-payments/#subscription-behavior-if-vault-fails

    Otherwise, payments for subscription-type products may be automatically voided if the payment method wasn’t saved for automatic future payments.
