Comments Not Displaying On single.php

  • I seem to have a really weird problem, the comment form shows up, I can post a comment the page says X Comments Posted, the comments are approved in the admin area but the comments aren’t displaying.

    Everything seems to check out in the code, I’ve got <?php wp_list_comments(); ?> so can’t work out what’s going wrong. If I change the theme to TwentyTen then the comments show up no problem so there is an issue with the theme apparently.

    Really Weird

    The really weird part is that 9 out of 10 times the comments won’t show and then for some random reason the comments will show up.

    Any help you can provide would be useful!

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

    Yep, all plugins deactivated. The comments show up fine on the default theme so it’s definitely theme specific, but I can’t see where, I even tried copying the comments file from the default theme but with the same result.

    It’s probably some minor overlooked error and I’ll kick myself when I find it or if it’s pointed out to me.

    Thanks, I will set the site up on a different domain as I don’t want to post the main site here. I’ll get it up tomorrow, thanks again for the suggestions and offering to take a look.

    My comments showed up this morning. 1,500 comments within 8 hours of launch. I was able to view the comments, including the pagination (Older comments link)

    But now none of the comments display. I can see 1500+ comments on the back end.

    I really need to figure this out fast.

    People have been emailing the webmaster of that domain, saying that WordPress gives them this “error” message:
    you are posting to quickly slow down

    Maybe that helps anyone here with experience what might be going on with the database?
