I just ran a check for broken links and the plugin is reporting multiple broken links that never existed on my site. It looks like these originate from URLs using the PrettyLinks plugin, which redirects to a merchant site.

What’s happening is that I have a link to a site – say, MerchantSite.com/Vitamin?affiliate-slug and am using a PrettyLink redirect: MySite.com/Vitamin

The Merchant sells MANY vitamins, so on the merchant site there are other urls, like MerchantSite.com/category/womensvitamins

The Broken Link Checker is saying that this exists on MY site and is broken… so it says the broken link is MySite.com/category/womensvitamins…

…even though that does NOT exist on my URL.

It’s doing this with two different merchant sites and is resulting in dozens of “broken links” that don’t really exist. It’s like it went to the Merchant’s site and categorized all of their links as mine. I’m not sure why this is happening or if there’s something I can do to stop these showing up in my list of broken links?

    Hi @skrimpy

I hope you are doing well today.

As this is 3rd party plugin, can share full steps to replicate this and share some screenshots of your settings in PrettyLinks? I have made some tests with Target URL & Pretty Link values on my lab site and BLC is not able to see such an issue you have.

    Kind Regards,
    Kris
