• I’m totally pulling my (ever thinning) hair out over non-saving screen options on all of my admin pages. I’ve tried all the usual fixes: Cleaned caches and restarted web browsers, removed and installed plugins one-by-one and en-masse, installed Use Google Code Libraries, reinstalled WordPress, etc. etc. etc. Nothing seems to work; my admin boxes stay where they want. On a multi-author blog with custom post boxes and plugins, this is getting troublesome.

Anyway, it seemed like the last flurry of “screen options not saving” posts were from around WP 2.8 or so, so I thought I’d check back in and see if anyone has anything new to try to fix my problem.

The fact that removing all of my plugins and reinstalling WordPress still leaves me with “stuck” boxes on the Dashboard and Post pages leads me to believe that there’s some cruft in my database left over from something. Is that possible? Is there any way to track such a thing down?

    Thanks!

  • Have you tried resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Yes, I’ve done that — renamed the plugins folder so that everything showed up as “errors” in the admin panel, cleared it out, and then put everything back. No change, I’m afraid.

After some further research (that was so simple, I should have done it sooner), I realize that the “non-stickiness” is tied to *my account*, along with a test account I created earlier.

I can fix this, I suppose, by making a new admin account, but I’m curious: Does anyone know if there’s a way to “reset” an account’s options? Any idea how I might find what’s stuck for just my account?

A fix or work around to this issue would be really awesome.
