    Dear all,

I am having trouble customizing my footer area. I am using the Neve 3.6.4 theme on WordPress 6.2.2. I am having no luck with getting a footer to appear on my site.

Here is what I am doing to customize my footer area: 1) From the dashboard I go to Appearance -> Customize -> Footer; 2) I make a change to a setting (any setting) and click Publish; 3) view the site.

The problem is that nothing happens. The changes aren’t visible and in fact there is no footer at all on the site no matter what I do.

Things I have done to trouble shoot this: 1) deactivated all plugins; 2) viewed all pages, not just home page; 3) changed themes.

Changing the theme is the only thing that has worked. As soon as I change to a new theme, the footer is there and can be customized. So I am forced to conclude the problem is with the Neve theme. However, I would like to keep using Neve if possible rather than switching to a different theme.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can fix this problem?

    Thanks!

  • I’m having a footer problem too. it disappears if I use a child theme, but if I go back to parent theme it returns. are you using a child theme?

    Hi Mugatea,

No child theme for me. I am having the problem with the parent theme. However, it does go away if I change parent theme, for instance to Astra. In this case, I get a normal footer that can be edited and appears on the site.

I’ll try adding a child theme and see what happens . . .

    Hi @ceanothus and @mugatea!

@ceanothus Please provide us the URL to a page where the issue can be seen.

@mugatea If the issue appears only when the child theme is activated, it means that there is some code added in the child theme that causes this.

    Thanks!

    Hi @luciamarinescu

I have an update for you – When I add a child theme, I gain a small amount of control over the footer. Specifically, I can at least see the footer on the page now, and I can adjust the size and background color. However, I still cannot add any content to it.

I am happy to send you a link, but is there a way to send it privately?

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi @ceanothus,

Sorry for the delayed reply here!

You could open a pre-sales ticket directly on our site and add the URL there. Also, please add the link to this thread when you create the ticket.

    Thank you!

    Hi @ceanothus,

    Hi @purplecodes

Please don’t close it yet as I have not had any luck getting this fixed. I did what @luciamarinescu suggested and created a pre-sales ticket on your site. Honestly, I was quite surprised by the reply stating that I must pay for support for these features, as they are clearly stated to be free features on your website.

I can understand getting me to pay for extra features that might become useful to me once the site is working. In fact, I probably would have paid for extra features if I had had a good experience with this theme. But now I am struggling to cross the trust gap between us. Asking me to pay for something that doesn’t work is a bit much. How could I possibly know that you could deliver a working site if you cannot deliver one with your free theme (as so many other free themes manage to achieve).

    Hi @purplecodes and @luciamarinescu,

It has been a while, and I haven’t heard anything from you guys about this. Any idea how to fix the footer problem yet?

    Hi @ceanothus,

There is a custom CSS on your site that hides the footer. Screenshot >> https://vertis.d.pr/i/ebEfOi You need to remove this CSS to fix the footer issue.

Please try and let us know how it goes.

    Hi @ceanothus,

Kindly confirm if the issue is now solved as mentioned by Poonam above?
