• Hi, I have added 2 users to my website but both users are not able to access the backend of the wordpress website. When I try reset their password, as an Administrator, I receive an error stating that I cannot send a reset email. If the user tries to reset their email they receive an error stating that they cannot reset their password.

Would you be able to help?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

You could assign a temp password to the new users and uncheck the user notification box. Enmail the 2 users yourself, giving them their temp passwords. Instruct them to login and go to their profile to set their preferred password.

Doesn’t solve the email issue, but it’ll get the users registered and logged in.

It’s possible your theme or a plugin is corrupting the email process. Try switching to a Twenty* theme and deactivating all plugins. Sending notification emails should now work. If not, there’s something unusual with how your mail server is setup. If so, I suggest trying one of the many SMTP plugins that attempt to work around strange mail server configurations.

Thank you for your response, however, I do not have an option for ‘user notification’.

When my users try to log in they receive an error message: ‘The email could not be sent. Your site may not be correctly configured to send emails’. This user is an editor.

I also have an administrator that is struggling to log in. When she signs in she is not seeing the back end to edit the site.

The lack of ability to send emails should not affect the ability to set and reset passwords, login, or otherwise use the site. It does affect new user registration, but the email part can be gotten around. Despite not getting an email after registration, the user is created, but their password is unknown. Someone with access to phpMyAdmin could manually set their password and relay it to the user through other means.

If your experience deviates from the above, your theme or a plugin has altered default behavior. Investigate further as I’ve described earlier about switching themes and deactivating plugins.
