• In the Social Icons Block documentation, under Block settings -> Color settings, it appears possible to change the color of the individual icons, as well as the individual icons background colour.

However, when editing a template with the social icons block, it appears only the icon color can be changed.

The background color in the settings changes the color for the entire social icons block, but not the individual icons.

Clicking on the individual icons does not offer an colour setting options.

This is using WordPress 6.2.2 and Gutengerg plugin is not installed.

Is this an error in the documentation, or an error on the editor?

I cannot replicate what you observe on my 6.2.2 test site, 2021 theme. My block options specify “icon background” which only alters icon backgrounds as expected, not the entire block’s background. Exactly as shown on the doc page you linked.

It seems your theme or a plugin may have altered the social icons block to suit its needs. Selectively switch themes and deactivate plugins until you get documented behavior. This will tell you which module is responsible. You can then either chose a different module or ask through its dedicated support channel how to revert to default behavior.

Aha, interesting, thank you very much for your testing.

I disabled the theme, and reverted to 2023, and the icon background does indeed appear.

Now to figure out why the theme I’m building is disabling that setting. But that’s not your problem.

    Thanks
