• Hi,

one of the plugins is asking for an update of the PHP version.. I have been told previously this has something to do with the server so I checked with the admin of my server and all seem up to date on that end. He mentioned that it could be possibly something related to the specific plugin or to the theme I am using – does anyone have some advise or possibly a solution?

    Many thanks!

  • Which PHP version is currently used by your hosting? If it is 7.4, good. 8.0 would be better. If 8.1 or 8.2 are used, you need to see if all plugins are compatible. However, if your PHP version is older than 7.4 then updating the PHP version on your hosting would be highly recommended.

You can find out which PHP version is used under Tools > Site Health.

Hi and many thanks for your quick reply and feedback.

It says that currently the PHP version is 7.0.33 so clearly outdated..

I don’t know how to updated if on the server side all seems fine.

PHP 7.0 is extremely outdated. There have been no updates for it for 4 years: https://www.php.net/eol.php

Your hoster must provide you with a current PHP version. If they can’t do that, I would change them.
