Observations on various form plugins

It seems to me that most form plugins prioritize the use of a mail server to send form data to an external email address. There doesn’t seem to be alot of plugins which focus storing data locally on the database. Database storage seems to be either a premium or secondary feature of form plugins. Does anybody else here feel this way?
