Instagram Basic Token Expiring in 6 Days?
-
Hello, I have actually reached out via your website regarding this issue but I figured it may be good to hear from other users.
When connected to an Instagram personal account with a basic access token, the plugin has an expiry countdown of 6 days. Once this expires, the token needs to be renewed for it to work again. I am trying to determine how we can connect Instagram to the FT Social feed without the token expiring. @slickchris has told me this is most likely due to the use of security plugins on the website which is rotating WordPress Salts & Keys which renders the token invalid (per their sticky thread here). I have disabled the only security plugin on my website, which is Limit Login Attempts Reloaded, but the 6-day expiry remains.
Since I can actually see the countdown to the token expiry (which is also shown in a screenshot on the plugin’s documentation, but not really discussed) I am of the assumption that the expiry is not caused by a security plugin, but may be a built-in limitation from either Facebook/Instagram or the plugin itself. I tried looking this up via Facebook/Instagram’s documentation but cannot find information on the basic access token having a 6-day expiry. Should I switch the Instagram account from personal to a business account? Will this remove the expiry countdown?
If anyone (including the plugin developers) have any knowledge on this limitation and how to resolve it, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
