Hi! My name is Natalie and I have a problem! I am about to migrate a site from wordpress.com to www.ads-software.com. Before doing this I already have the “Bushwick” Theme installed, which is the one that I will be using. I also installed the Jetpack plugin to get it working properly. Still, when I want to customize the look of my www.ads-software.com site with a sample page, the “colors” option only allows me to change the background. However, in my wordpress.com account, using the same Theme, I can modify much more than that; such as headers, links, etc. What could be going on?

P.S: I don’t think it’s a Theme problem, since I’m also doing the same process with a website that uses a Publication as a Theme, and that one also have problems concerning “Colors”. Even so, I was recommended to put my concern here.

  • Hey there,

It’s possible those features are WordPress.com specific.

Have you also installed the Gutenberg editor?

    Many thanks in advance.

Actually, I haven’t. It never crossed my mind that this could be the problem. Do you know the name of the plugin corresponding to that editor? I have found two that might be just what I need. One is called “Classic Editor”, and the other “Gutenberg”. However, I have noticed that only the first one has been developed by “WordPress Contributors”

Well, I have installed the plugin called “Classic Editor” and still nothing has changed. I tried to find the settings for this plugin, but it has no options that I can turn on or off. Or at least I haven’t found them. Could it be that I have configured it wrong?

P.S: I have installed some plugins to strengthen the security of the web. Could it be that one of them is causing this problem?

    Hi @ncfuentes , I just re-read your question:

Still, when I want to customize the look of my www.ads-software.com site with a sample page, the “colors” option only allows me to change the background. However, in my wordpress.com account, using the same Theme, I can modify much more than that; such as headers, links, etc. What could be going on?

The color customizer you’re referring to is a feature specific to WordPress.com sites with classic themes. It generates custom CSS for you and adds it to your site; you can see it in your browser’s View Source if you look for custom-colors-css.

This feature is unavailable on www.ads-software.com installations, but you can copy the generated CSS from a WordPress.com site if needed. I’d recommend contacting WordPress.com support directly if you have more questions about that feature. Cheers!

Oh!! Thank you very much for your reply!! It is very kind of you @supernovia !! I actually managed to find a way to customize the website using, as you suggested, CSS which turned out to be very helpful.
Again, thank you very much for taking the time to answer my question!!

Glad to hear you’ve got it, @ncfuentes . Cheers!
