Users can’t login and register anymore (2.6.8)

    Hi

    After running UM for several years without flaws, suddenly my registered users can’t access the member area anymore. This most likely happened with the update to 2.6.8.

    When I want to login, the error “An error has been encountered” appears. I have disabled my cache plugin (fastest cache) and also others which were not critical for operation of the site. I also enabled logging, but nothing regarding this error is written to the log. Further, I made sure that all plugins and WP are up-to-date.

    That being said, I also tried to register a new user, but it failed with the same error.

    Help is much appreciated, I need my site working again!!!

    I investigated a bit and reverted older UM plugin versions. It seems, the login and registration worked until 2.6.6. With 2.6.7 and the fix of this vulnerability issue, it stopped working. Are you able to reproduce, or did I miss some important settings I need to tweak so that 2.6.8 is working?

    hi andrew

    i could narrow down the problem to the plugin wpbruiser. there was a setting to protect ultimate member login and registration forms. even though the plugin was up-to-date, it somehow caused UM 2.6.8 to fail – it used to work in the past with 2.6.6 as mentioned. anyway, i removed this protection setting in wpbruiser, updated to UM 2.6.8 and now everything works fine.
