• Hello,

I have a problem with the output URL shown in the search results. I use a custom field called ‘Shop Name’ in the User profile that builds the URL of the page. For example; websitename.com/brands/example/

But, I create the User via the normal Username method which could be different to the Shop Name. e.g ‘Example UK’

The search result via the search bar outputs the URL as websitename.com/brands/example-uk/ if {USER_NICENAME} is selected. This then would be a 404 page error as this page doesn’t exist. I presume it is selecting the Username for the output.

If I select {USER_NICKNAME} – both Nickname and Shop Name match but again there is problem with the URL output in the search bar as it outputs the URL using %20 in between the words and not ” – ” as above. For example – websitename.com/brands/example%20uk/

Is there any way to select a custom field in the plugin that isn’t a standard WordPress field? or force the results to use ” – ” if Nickname is selected so it doesn’t add %20 for the space between words in the Nickname?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hi,

For the Pro version support please open a ticket via this link. Unfortunately it is not allowed to discuss paid plugin versions via these forums.

    Hi,

Sorry, I didn’t realise. Yes, I do have the Pro version – and have extended support a couple of times, but the licence has expired so am unable to send a support ticket.

I never noticed this issue before and am baffled that there it not an easy solution within the Advanced tab. I think I will just leave it then. I don’t really want to pay for a 3rd time when I think it should have worked of the box.

    I mean using ” – ” instead of “%20″ by default. Even the URL on this page uses ” – ” https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/custom-user-url-output/#new-topic-0

    Thanks

    Maybe this is a bug that can be looked into instead. I don’t know where to report that as I cannot create a support ticket. If you use?{USER_NICENAME} after a Username has been updated to a new Username. Such as;

    Old Username: Example UK
    New Username. Example

Using ?{USER_NICENAME}, it pulls in the original Old Username and not the new one. So the URL would be example.co.uk/example-uk/ which results in a 404. I don’t know why it pulls in the old name.

Hence my original post as using {USER_NICENAME} is not an option.

    Hi,

You can report a bug here, or you can directly contact via this url.

These values are always requested from the WP core though, so the issue may be related to something else too. You can still open a bug report if you want to, we will take a look for sure.

    All the best,
    Ernest
