    I’m starting a fresh topic.

In my pages editor, the page I want to have as the front page is indeed labeled Front Page and functions as that.

However, I’m missing the Front Page Template, if I ad one, it appears as the blog page, NOT my assigned from Page. How do I fix that?

Also, the same problem exists with the home template!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • hello, @pickfetishx351

You have to do a little bit of setting in your wordpress dashboard.
Go to your WordPress Dashboard -> Settings -> Reading

After clicking on Reading you will see -> A label as Your homepage displays in that their are 2 radio buttons

    • Latest Posts
    • A stati page
under static page you have tow select box one is labeles as homepage and other as post page. In this their will be a list of pages that you have created. Now in homepage box select frontpage and hit save.

Hello, if you had selected a page to be the static front page or Homepage under Settings > Reading, then I believe that page should pick up any Front Page template that you have added later. Other things to double-check:

    • Is the homepage set to display Your latest posts under Settings > Reading?
    • Could the Front Page template you have added be using the Query Loop block and that’s why it looks like the blog page?
    • Please edit the page that was set as the front page, check Template under Settings > Page tab – it should show Front Page referring to the Front Page template you have added.

The Home and Index templates also use the Query Loop block.

    Good luck!

There is not page tab under the settings tab, the only template thing I can see is under the tools tab and it’s a editor for code changing. And even there, there is no front page template as I removed it. I tried bringing the front page template back and that was when I saw it having the query loop in it, you are correct.

However, I cannot find how to get to the page tab as there is none under settings.

Stuti: I have done that before all this and that isn’t the problem evidently.

Gerry, can you advise what to do since I can’t find the page tab under settings?

I’ve turned the front page template back on so you guys can see it to see what I need to change.

I tried copying the non existemplate front page stuff but I can’t figure out how to paste it into the front page template.

This is driving me crazy, I spent all day yesterday trying to figure this out.

Hi, Iooking at the website I can see that the two pages: Home and The Blog:… are already showing different content, so I think Home is already using the Front Page template. If you were to edit the Home page, you should see something like the following image:

    Editing Home page

Could you explain what you believe is still missing on the Home page?

    Thread Starter pickfetishx351

    (@pickfetishx351)

The home page shows the blog page I have. Also, on that home page template, there is no section for template?

    Thread Starter pickfetishx351

    (@pickfetishx351)

Ok, something wierd is going on I think. When I go to my main page under pages, it says front page, and in the right hand side where you indicated to change my template in use, it does say Front Page, and untouched it shows the correct page as I wish, but the moment I click on it, it reverts to the blog page content!

    (@pickfetishx351)

Also, the URL under that is only pickfetish.com no slash anything.

    Thread Starter pickfetishx351

    (@pickfetishx351)

AND, ALSO, if I click on that URL and choose it and go to edit it, it changes the page to look wierd, as though it’s just a query type link that doesn’t work!

Hi, please note editing a page is different from editing a template. The image I provided shows editing the Home page, not the template. If you want to edit the Front Page template, then:

    1. Under Settings > Page > Template click on the Front Page link
    2. In the pop-up that is displayed, click on the Edit template link

To edit the Front Page template

If your main page is already using the Front Page template, then you don’t need to switch templates. What you might need to figure out or explain is what content you would like to show on your main page or Home page that isn’t there yet?

On the left side bar there is settings, but under settings there is no Page or template option, as I was saying earlier. I hope I’m not frustrating you, I think there is a bug maybe in this.

Ok, so when I choose that edit template option, it reverts back to the blog content on the page. How do I replace all of that with the page content that IS my proper front page, the static page?

    (@pickfetishx351)

I want to add something here: I’m a retired technologist and did study some programming decades ago, but I’ve forgotten all of that. I just want you to know this is not some idiot, you never said that, but you might be thinking it. Something isn’t right here.

I want my front page template to not default to the blog content, but to my actual static page. And the home template show blank in the middle content window.

Do you need some screen shots?
