  • something is wrong with 3.2.17. After updating, my server went crazy high on load and on scrutiny, i see tons of GET requests from my own server but all with 404 status.

    MYSERVERIP - - [10/Aug/2023:01:54:09 +0000] "GET /wp-content/uploads/wpo/images/XXXXX.png HTTP/1.1" 404 24197

Yet directory wpo does exist and the image it’s trying to fetch does exist as well.

a restart of apache didn’t resolve the issue, but apparently a deactivation, followed by reactivation of the plugin does. Hopefully it works for you as well.

Same problem here. My host provider has disable access to two of my sites, so far and counting, due to server load after updating to the latest version. I am trying to get them to give me back acccess to disable the plugin.

Could you kindly provide the following information:

Which Operating System/Server architecture are you using? What version of PHP is installed? What is your web server (e.g., Apache, NginX, etc.)? You can find these information in the screenshot provided here, screenshot: https://prnt.sc/aumv3wJPUcOA

I’ll initiate an investigation as soon as the necessary details are provided. Thank you.

    Hi @kowsar89,

Should you require additional information from my setup, please don’t hesitate to ask.

I can share that following the update, all six websites hosted on my server encountered identical issues. Despite attempts to resolve by reinstalling the plugin, the problem persisted due to server errors. Similarly, disabling and then enabling the plugin yielded no change in outcomes. It’s worth noting that the CPU usage reaches 100% with just one site, which accentuates the concern considering this occurs across all six sites.

    Best regards,

Here’s my setup. 1 thing to clarify. I think /wp-content/uploads/wpo/ didn’t exist until I deactivate and re-activate the plugin. After re-activation, the directory wpo gets created.

Could any of you consider testing the latest version of WP-Optimize on a new/fresh website within your environment and see if the issue persists? As I’m unable to replicate the problem on my end and don’t have the exact steps to reproduce it, I could use assistance in troubleshooting. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Furthermore, are you using the free version of WP-Optimize? I’m confirming this as there are variations in the codebase for the premium version.

    @kowsar89

Good morning and apologies for the delayed response as I had to get some night sleep. Here’s the info:

    Αρχιτεκτονικ? διακομιστ?: Linux 3.10.0-1160.66.1.el7.x86_64 x86_64
    Διακομιστ??: Apache

    PHP SAPI: cgi-fcgi

    Upload max filesize: 20M
    PHP post max size: 30M
    ?κδοση cURL: 8.1.2 OpenSSL/1.1.1u

The issue seems to have been fixed now for both my sites:

Petawawa Pizzeria | Mediterranean Food | Broaster Chicken

    Δ?κτυο Κοινωνικ?? Αλληλεγγ?η? – Συν-?παρξη (syn-yparxi.gr)

Once the hosting provider gave me back local access, I was able to do the following:

    1. Restore from a back-up
    2. Disable wp-optimizer which was at an older version
    3. Update wp-optimizer to the latest version
    4. Enable wp-optimizer

What is interesting is the fact that I have another site where the plugin is also installed; however, after the update it did not cause an issue. It sits on the same server so the environment is similar. The key difference, perhaps, is that the two sites that experienced the elevated server load after the update run elementor. I am not sure whether this is a coincidence or not.

It is the free version of the plugin.

Regarding testing a new version of the module, the issue is fixed now after following the steps above.

I’ve had a similar problem since the update, and have located an error, the plugin seems to be requesting an image from the domain server which does not exist. This took my Vps cpus out with 20 sites all using WPO plugin, each requesting the same wpo logo image file which is not on my server. But the request’s overwhelmed the server.

    /wp-content/uploads/wpo/images/wpo_logo_small.png

currently all domains have the plugin deactivated

    Hi @kowsar89 ,

I just tested on test-website,fresh downloaded from wp and seems to be ok, and yes I’m using free version. CPU usage is less than 10%. Since now other wesites are in production, further testing I will be able to doing over the weekend.

For those who are still experiencing this problem, could you kindly try turning off the WebP feature from the WP-Optimize settings? Please inform us if this resolves the problem. If it does, we suggest keeping the WebP feature disabled until we release a fix for this issue. If not, please let us know as this information will assist us in our investigation.

Note: We have initiated an internal investigation into this matter. I will provide further updates here as soon as they become available.
