Import / Export function doesn’t work

    Hello Mr. Lingren,

    I was recommended your plugin as a solution for my vast collection of photos lacking alt texts. I currently have around 400 online and 900 more awaiting publication. The prospect of automating this process is quite appealing. Despite my partial understanding of certain aspects of the plugin, I can already envision some other potential use cases.

    However, I’ve encountered an issue that I’d like to bring to your attention. As indicated in the title, the import and export buttons (located in “Media” -> “Assistant” -> (select) “Products” -> (action) “Edit”) appear to be unresponsive to clicks. When I attempt to use the export or import function, the interface appears to be active for approximately 3 seconds, yet it doesn’t yield any downloadable file nor prompt me to specify a file location.

    I’ve discussed this problem with the individual who recommended the plugin to me, and they mentioned experiencing the same issue. Fortunately, this feature wasn’t a critical aspect of their usage plan.

    Could you suggest a straightforward solution for this problem, or would it be more advisable for me to provide additional information to help address this issue?

    Thank you for your report and for the details you included. I want to make sure I understand the steps you are following.

    You wrote “the import and export buttons (located in “Media” -> “Assistant” -> (select) “Products” -> (action) “Edit”) appear to be unresponsive to clicks.” I am not sure what “(select) “Products” -> (action) “Edit”” means. Does “Products” refer to one of your Media Library items? Does (action) “Edit” mean you are clicking on the “Bulk Actions” dropdown control, selecting “Edit” and then clicking “Apply”?

    If that is right, you will open the Bulk Edit area and see your Products item in the Bulk Edit list at the upper left part of the area. Below the list you will see “Cancel”, “Reset”, “Import” and “Export” buttons. Are these the buttons you refer to? If so, you need to understand what the buttons actually do. Here is the text in the Bulk Actions tab of the Help menu you open by clicking on the button in the upper right corner of the Media/Assistant screen:

    You can save any values you enter here for future use. Click the “Export” button to save the current values for term assignments and other fields to the database. Click “Import” to recall saved values and re-populate the current values with them.

    As the text says, these buttons are for saving and recalling values you enter in the Bulk Edit area. For example, you could edit a content template in the Title or ALT Text boxes, then export/save the template so you do not have to enter it again when you reopen the Bulk Edit area in the future.

    The Import and Export buttons do not have any effect on the items you are trying to edit. They only apply to values you enter in the Bulk Edit area.

It looks like you need to define an MLA mapping rule and then execute the rule to update your items. Is that right?
