• I am publishing a web book about innovation for free access (in Portuguese). In the past, I deleted a CPT (innovation approaches) and moved all posts to a new CPT (innovation practices). I have added many redirects from the old URLs to the new ones, for example, from?https://flexmethod4innovation.com/abordagem/design-thinking/?to?https://flexmethod4innovation.com/pratica/design-thinking/. Abordagem is approach in Portuguese, and pratica is practice in Portuguese. I am trying to add new redirects, but I can no longer find how to insert them. Is it still possible to add redirects with the local BLC? Since I have only one website, I think that I don’t need the cloud BLC. I am insecure about changing. Today, I have more than 14 thousand links. How can I add redirects with local BLC?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @roz48br

I hope you are doing well.

Broken Link Checker doesn’t have a redirect feature, but it does have the link https://monosnap.com/file/xzCLK88s3uDuL7Zf9PVEYTEv7bvf23 so you can update the link using the plugin interface, also a Fix redirect https://monosnap.com/file/7LRKYFB65akoui8mygfY1d68d1nLcE which removes the redirect adding the final destination to the link instead of the initial link where the redirect starts.

In case you are looking to redirect, the SmartCrawl plugin can help https://wpmudev.com/docs/wpmu-dev-plugins/smartcrawl/#url-redirection and use the Regex option https://wpmudev.com/docs/wpmu-dev-plugins/smartcrawl/#url-redirection-advanced-options

Let us know if this is what you are looking for.

Dear Patrick, thank you so much for your reply.

Let’s see if I understood. You mean that BLC does not have a redirect feature anymore. Is that right?

In the past, I have added more than 500 hundred redirects using BLC.

They were not broken links. As I told you, I deleted a CPT (custom post type), and all posts I have transferred to a new CPT.

But, as many users had stored in their favorite links the old URL, when they search using the old URL, they are redirected to the new one. If you want access to my website, I can create a user for you, and you can check it.

For example, you can search for https://flexmethod4innovation.com/abordagem/ambidestria-organizacional/ and see that the “abordagem” CPT no longer exists. This URL is redirecting to https://flexmethod4innovation.com/pratica/ambidestria-organizacional/ (the new CPT is “pratica”). I have done this 500 times.

All those redirects I have added using BLC. They are not broken links because the original URL (with the “abordagem” CPT) no longer exists. And all those redirects are registered in the BLC. You have then canceled this feature from BLC. Is that right?

    Dear Patrick,

I have checked the SmartCrawl plugin. I am not a DEV guy, and this plugin is for SEO. This plugin offers much more than I need. I don’t intend to optimize or monetize my website. My website is an open book I am publishing (I am a retired professor), so I do not have the funds to pay for a PRO version. The feature you showed me from SmartCrawl is precisely what was available in the BLC. Does it mean that I have to install this SmartCrawl plugin to have back the redirect feature?

    Hey @roz48br

In the past, there was no redirect feature in BLC. I guess you mean the redirects tab in Tools -> Broken Links -> Redirects. This feature only lists URLs which was in the Broken list in the past.

When it comes to SmartCrawl, you don’t need to enable all features when it comes to SEO, just enable and use Redirect feature.

    Kind Regards,
    Kris
