I use the gutenberg editor for the events calendar. Since version 6.2.0, the selected venue disappears from the block as soon as you edit the event.

Also, the “Tick to show maps at events and locations” setting no longer functions as expected. A Google Maps map is consistently displayed, even when this option is turned off.

I tested it on version 6.1.4 and it worked fine there.

Are more people experiencing this problem?

    Hi @lara2308,

I couldn’t replicate the issue with The Events Calendar 6.2.0.1, please update to the latest version and check again.

If the issue persists after updating, it would be good to test for conflicts. Could you follow the following steps?

    1. Deactivate all other plugins except for The Events Calendar Plugins.
    2. Switching to the Default theme.

Please read the Testing for Conflicts article before doing anything.

To be safe, we’d recommend conducting tests and updates on a Staging Server. Also, please keep a working backup of your website.

    Best,

    Atousa

    Hi Atousa,

I tested the plugin in a clean WordPress installation with no other plugins and with the default theme. The problem is that you cannot use the venue block in other blocks like the column or group.

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Add columns block
    2. Add venue block in one of the columns
    3. Select a venue
    4. Save the event
    5. Refresh the page
    6. The venue disappears

As I had mentioned, this still worked fine in version 6.1.4. I have tested it again with the latest version (currently 6.2.2) and in that it does not work. We would like to see this resolved as we use this to style our pages.

    Hi,

We are now two months further, and I’m wondering if there is an estimated release time for this solution. In the meantime, eight new versions have been released: 6.2.3, 6.2.3.1, 6.2.3.2, 6.2.4, 6.2.5, 6.2.6, 6.2.6.1, and 6.2.7. You previously mentioned that a solution had already been found, so I don’t understand why it wasn’t included in one of these earlier releases. Due to this bug, we are currently unable to update the plugin for our websites.

    Kind regards,

    Lara

    Hi @d0153.

Same as Lara, we maintained our sites at version 6.1.2.2 to preserve the Venue block’s state.

However, upon upgrading to WordPress 6.4, all event blocks break if The Events Calendar remains at 6.1.2 due to a JavaScript lodash issue. This issue is fixed in 6.2.3.

To resolve this, we’re compelled to update to 6.2.3+ which unfortunately empties the state of the Venue block. Our clients are seeking answers due to this issue, which necessitates a fix from your end to resolve.

Could you please prioritise this issue?

    Kind regards,
    Yvette

    Hi there!

We’re happy to inform you that the issue on the venue block in the Events Calendar plugin has been fixed.

As always, we recommend testing updates on a staging site first and keeping a recent backup, but the update should work smoothly.

Please upgrade your Events Calendar plugin to apply this fix to your site.
