When we visit Site Kit > Settings we can see that while Search Console, PageSpeed Insights and Tag Manager are connected, Analytics shows the message ‘Complete setup for Analytics’.

However, when I click either that button or the link that says ‘continue module setup’ I just get a linear progress indicator and nothing more ever happens.

I tried disconnecting and re-connecting the analytics account, but no luck. I have WP Crontrol installed and forced ‘googlesitekit_cron_update_remote_features’ to run (seen on another thread here) and that didn’t help either.

Can you help us get analytics connected? Our conversion tracking isn’t working as expected because this is disconnected.

@nataliemac thanks for getting in touch and sorry to hear you are unable to set up your Analytics module currently. Could you please share the following:

    1. Your?Site Health information. You can?use this form?to share privately if preferred.?
    2. Do you encounter the same when attempting set up in an incognito window?
    3. Are you still unable to complete the setup when following the troubleshooting steps?here?and in troubleshooting mode?

Let me know if you have any questions on the above.

Hello @adamdunnage! Thanks for your help.

    1. I submitted Site Health information through the form
    2. Yes, same situation when using an incognito window
    3. I tried using the Health Check and Troubleshooting plugin, but clicking the Troubleshoot link next to Site Kit didn’t seem to do anything other than refresh the page. I never got the panel as expected and wasn’t able to continue.

@nataliemac Thank you for sharing the information. I can see that you have a large number of plugins active on your site so it’s very likely this could be caused by a plugin conflict. Would you be able to share a recording of what is happening when you try to follow the troubleshooting steps?

After clicking on the troubleshoot link and the refresh, are all of your plugins still active? Do you see any console errors when trying this?

@adamdunnage Sure I recorded a screencast for you – is there a way to send you the link privately? I would prefer it not be publicly available for security reasons.

@nataliemac Absolutely, you can use the form you shared previously for your Site Health to attach your recording, thanks.

@nataliemac Thanks for sharing. It looks like the iThemes security is blocking you from running the troubleshooting mode. This was confirmed on a test site of my own. Once I disabled the iThemes security plugin I was able to run troubleshooting mode.

Would it be possible for you to temporarily disable the iThemes security plugin to run the troubleshooting mode? Once in this, attempt your Site Kit Analytics setup once more.

Let me know how you get on with this and if you have any other questions at this time.

Hi @adamdunnage . I tried temporarily disabling iThemes security, but was still not able to run troubleshooting mode, and was also unable to connect Google Analytics. So, I went ahead and just re-enabled iThemes security again. Are there any other plugins that seem like they might be the cause of the issue?

@nataliemac It’s difficult to pinpoint which plugin or group of plugins are blocking you from using troubleshooting mode. The best way to find which may be causing this is to temporarily deactivate plugins one by one until you are able to enter troubleshooting mode.

I appreciate this may not be ideal on a live website however it’s difficult to continue to investigate this further without the troubleshooting tool.

One other step you could try before this would be a Site Kit reset. Please note that resetting Site Kit disconnects all users and removes all Site Kit settings, Dashboard Sharing settings and data within WordPress. After resetting, other administrators will need to go through the setup process again. Any users that have access to a view only dashboard will lose access to them.

After the reset, let me know if you encounter the same setup issue with your Analytics.

@adamdunnage We use CloudFlare on this site and have security measures in place through CloudFlare. Might that be causing the issue? Are any web requests from Google TO our website during the connection process?

    (@adamdunnage)

@nataliemac It’s possible that Cloudflare security settings could be blocking requests made at the setup stage. This is something you could check by temporarily disabling Cloudflare or specific settings to see if you can then complete the Analytics setup.

If you are able to test this then let me know how you get on. I’d also check in with Cloudflare if possible to see if they can spot anything at their level causing a block to any Google requests.

@nataliemac Checking in to see if you were able to find a resolution for this?

    Thread Starter Natalie MacLees

    (@nataliemac)

@adamdunnage No, not yet. We tried putting CloudFlare in developer mode, but still no luck.

@nataliemac Sorry to hear that. It certainly looks like a conflict at some level that is causing this. Is it possible at all for you to create a new blank webstite on the same hosting provider to see if when installing just Site Kit and setting up if you see the same same happen with your Analytics.

    Thread Starter Natalie MacLees

    (@nataliemac)

We have a few other sites with very similar setups on the same hosting and we’ve been able to connect Analytics in Site Kit in all of them except this one. We’re still trying to track down why that is.
