This problem has been troubling me for the past several days. I have used Twenty Seventeen theme for over 4 years without any major issues, and suddenly I cannot update my pages or posts. (The last time I successfully did was in early May, about four months ago.) When I press the Update button, sometimes it doesn’t respond at all, and other times it will change to ‘Updating…’ and get stuck in that state for over 30 minutes or would fail with the following message: ‘Updating failed. You are probably offline.’ when I am, of course, online.

I am using WordPress 6.3.1 and Twenty Seventeen theme. My site is hosted by Bluehost. I have tried Troubleshooting mode and still cannot update anything, including pages or posts.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue? Any suggestions to fix it would be greatly appreciated.

  • It sounds unlikely that this is coming from your theme, specially using one of the default themes. When I read you’re with Bluehost, I thought of this other thread.

    • Could you take a look to confirm if it sounds familiar?
    • If so, could you please follow the steps in the thread and/or contact Bluehost?

Thank you @mrfoxtalbot for the suggestion! I followed your advice and contacted Bluehost Support. Turns out they were able to update pages on their end; they suggested I clear the browser cache — that didn’t solve the problem but Chrome’s Incognito mode helped. So, as @mrfoxtalbot pointed out, it was not due to the theme. Thanks for the help!
