• When plugins are installed via Composer for example by using wpackagist, do their downloads account towards the “active installations” on a plugin page?

We’ve been using a plugin quite alot but it has not raised the number at all, which makes me wonder if the “active installations” is a presentational number for plugins which are mostly installed through Composer…

  • Download counts do not affect active installs at all. Only active installations of plugins count.

Active installations depend on whether the plugin is checking for updates against the API here at www.ads-software.com. As long as the version from Packagist is the same version of the plugin hosted in the plugin directory and doesn’t have code blocking the check for updates, it should be counted the same.

Hi Justin, thanks for your reply and the explanation.
Sorry I meant active installs there.
