Been trying to customize the default email to add some standard language, but following the (very old) documentation, my changes to the footer are not being picked up with viewing the preview, or when sending the test email. I am just adding P tag with an address to see if it will work.

I’ve copied the three “_default” files into a folder called “give” into my theme. I’ve flushed all the caches and logged out and back in, but nothing is displaying. Am I missing a step? Or have the instructions changed?

    Give Version 2.33.2
    wordpress 6.3.1
    Hello Elementor theme
    PHP 7.4

    Hi, @callerpatty.

I’m glad you reached out. I can certainly help you.

To change the standard text, you can navigate to donations > settings > emails and change it over there. Are there changes you would like to make that are not possible and that’s why you are editing other files?

You can upload your code to Github and share the link here so we can test if it comes to it. However, the best course of action would be to use the email templates available and change the text according to your needs.

?Please let us know if you have further questions or need additional assistance!

    Hi Matheus

Thank you for your response. As I said before, I am trying to edit the DEFAULT footer and add some text to appear at the bottom of all the emails that get sent out. I followed the information to override the default templates, but the text I added is not working.

Here is a quick video to show you where I placed the “give” folder and the files: https://app.screencast.com/BGLcub2GKTegF

Emails that are being sent are not picking up the default override templates like the documentation said it should. I had to add the text individually to the email template.

Are the template overrides no longer a feature that we can use? Or are they not compatible with the Hello Elementor theme? I need to be able to change the global footer and not add the information individually to each email.

    Hi, @callerpatty.

Now I think I understand what you are looking for. Although we do not have a central place where you can change the default footer text, you can do that using some code.

I wrote a custom snippet for it here https://gist.github.com/matheuswd/16913fd5e2b438669e1c84afa5dbfad4.

If you need assistance implementing custom PHP code on your website we have this guide: https://givewp.com/documentation/resources/adding-custom-functions-to-your-wordpress-website/.

Please note that this code snippet is provided as an example of how you can extend GiveWP with code. It’s up to you to implement and customize to your liking. We cannot provide support for custom code on your website, only the code that we create and distribute.?

Thanks for using GiveWP! Have a great day.
