• I have discovered that Neve had a duplicated footer in its code when you create a footer for mobile and desktop. In this case, when requesting a page from a desktop the footer for desktop will be hidden and if you request the webpage from a mobile the desktop footer will be hidden. This means that if you have an outbound link in the footer on mobile and on desktop, there will be HIDDEN external links and i wonder if it could generate a GOOGLE penalty.

example: googlebot visits neve with useragent of mobile, it will see the mobile footer but there will be the a href of the hidden external links too belonging to the mobile footer.

I guess the Dev from Neve told themselves: this is a common practice of responsive menus. But there is a catch! Menus don’t have external links! So, what would be the effect of having hidden external links at the bottom of your code??? I don’t want to take the risk.

So, in practice, imagine i add a HTML code in which there is a link to my twitter account in my neve footer for desktop. Then i add the same HTML code in my neve footer for mobile. When i will display my pages on desktop, there will be a hidden link to twitter on every page !!
