If i use WP Multi Networkplugin and create some children networks under my multisite installation .How the children sites behave. Are they creates clone keeping the actual sub-site making a copy ?

    I mean that if I have a Multisite Mysite.com .
    I will create 1.Mysite.com ,2.Mysite.com .Later if I create a.mysite.com and b.mysite.com c.mysite.com ,d.mysite.com .Now set a.mysite.com and b.mysite under 1.Mysite.com and c.mysite.com ,d.mysite.com under 2.Mysite.com .

So how the subsites delegated with new sub domains ? Are they cloned keeping a copy creating a fresh site like a.1.Mysite.com ?

Does any body have Idea on these?

  • No, they are not cloned. It;s like a NEW network.

I mean to ask that is there any load caused to my servers if I use this plugin than usual load ?

    no.

The only increase in load is from adding more blogs. Within a network is irrelevant.

Adding more blogs means adding the existed blogs under multisite to Children network or creating new sub-sites?

Either. blogs = sites. They just add one more in the db.

    Hi Andrea,

I know this thread has been marked “resolved” but I had a question if it’s ok to ask…..

I’d like to know if using this plugin to create a multi-site network is any different than if you set it up manually by modifying the config file yourself?

I guess I’m wondering which is the best process for doing this?

When you install wordpress .It just works as a Blog or single website.Conversion into Multi-site is an act to turn it into Multi-bloging platfarm .Which enables you to create more multiple blogs under single installation .
So we call the main domain.com as main blog/website and the blogs/websites created under this(sub1.domain.com,sub2.domain.com) installation are known as Children blogs/websites .

If we use this(wp-multinetwork ) plugin ,it adds the functionality to create blogs/websites under the sub-sites too.

    Like node1.sub1.domain.com and node2.sub1.domain.com etc.

    I hope you understand !

this plugin is not for that. ??

I recommend *always* that you set up the initial network manually, so you’re aware of and understand how it works.

    Hi again Andrea ??

You are so awesome for helping.

Just wanted to say that the network set up was pretty much a breeze. In fact, as I was going along I wasn’t even asked to distinguish between sub-domains or sub-directories. I think WordPress just sort of made it’s own decision about that. I now have a network on this site —-> https://www.davelife.com/ (a not so interesting personal blog I started but never kept updated). I set up two other blogs in the network https://testblog1.davelife.com and https://testblog2.davelife.com/

I noticed after setting up the network my template on the main site kind of went screwy on me and I had to reupload the template to make it look normal again. Could anything I did during setup cause the template on the main site to get messed up? Just wondering if that is a normal thing. I’m doing all this one one of my domains that I’ve now just started using for testing stuff and hate to have that happen again on my business site if I decide to change it to network set up.

No idea, especially without knowing what theme you were using.

In general, setting up the network does nothing to the theme.
