“Your Cart Is Currently Empty” When Logged out

Whenever a customer that’s not logged in tries to add an item to the cart, it does not add to the cart. When you go to the cart page after trying to add an item to the cart, this message shows: “Your cart is currently empty”. I have enabled access in WooCommerce settings for customers to be able to place orders without having to be logged in.

From what I understand, you’re encountering a problem where your site’s non-logged-in customers can’t add items to their cart. Although you’ve enabled settings for customers to place orders without logging in, they still see a “Your cart is currently empty” message when they try to view their cart. I’ve done everything you listed above and i’m still having the same issue. also, i cannot upgrade to WoooCommerce 8.1. Every time i try to do an upgrade, it crashes my website, and i have to upload the previous version.

I’ve done everything you listed above and i’m still having the same issue. also, i cannot upgrade to WoooCommerce 8.1. Every time i try to do an upgrade, it crashes my website, and i have to upload the previous version.

It seems like the constant crashing of your website when you try to upgrade to WooCommerce 8.1 might be due to a compatibility issue with another active plugin. So, here’s what you can do next. Try deactivating all of your plugins except for WooCommerce and then give the WooCommerce 8.1 upgrade another shot.

?? Just a quick reminder: Before you make any changes, we strongly recommend that you create a backup of your full site and database. This is a crucial step to ensure that in case anything goes wrong, you can easily restore your site to its previous, functioning state.

If the upgrade goes smoothly with all other plugins deactivated, it’s a sign that one of your plugins is causing a conflict. You can then reactivate your plugins one by one, testing your site each time to figure out which plugin is the culprit.

So I deactivated all plugins. Then, I clicked the update button on woocommerce. I got a message sayng that woocommerce has been updated. However, when i tried to access my website after that, I get a broken website.

This site can’t be reached

The connection was reset.

I never figured it out. I had to reinstall my whole website and database and then I installed an old version of woocommerce. I am still not able to upgrade to the latest version of woocommerce

Sorry to know you’re still experiencing this issue. I understand you already tried disabling all plugins, but have you tried switching to the Storefront theme as well?

I’m asking because your theme seems to be overriding some WooCommerce templates.

Templates Archive Template: Your theme has a woocommerce.php file
you will not be able to override the woocommerce/archive-product.php custom template since woocommerce.php has priority over archive-product.php.

It might also be helpful to change the following server variables, your hosting provider can help you with this part.

1. PHP Version: upgrading from 7.4.23 to 8.0.
2. PHP Time Limit: Increase from 120 to 1200.
3. PHP Max Input Vars: Raise from 1000 to 6144.
