“Index unindexed posts” only indexes the unindexed posts. “Build index” clears the index and rebuilds it from scratch. You need that.

You have the post type sorting correct, but you have two functions to set the order: the first one sets by post date, and the second by post type. If you’re not seeing the post type sorting, you’re likely getting the post date sorting. Remove the first function, and you should see the correct order.

Yeah, that error will probably stop the search from working. That’s not a Relevanssi file, though, so I can’t tell what’s up with that.

Does the orderby setting in the filter have any effect? What if you try different values, like post_title, post_date or relevance?

Does the relevanssi_comparison_order function run? If you check the value that passes through relevanssi_orderby filter, is it still correct post_type there?

It’s possible something changes the value after you check the query vars.

To see if the function runs, drop a echo "this function runs"; in it and see if that prints out.
