    I’m using the WordPress RSS widget to display two “top <X> products in <genre>” type RSS feeds, one from Netflix and one from Amazon. Each feed consists of items named like this “###- Title” For example here are what these two RSS feeds look like today:

    Feed from Netflix:
    001- Flushed Away
    002- Corpse Bride
    003- Princess Mononoke
    004- Ponyo

    Feed from Amazon:
    01- Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete [Blu-ray]
    02- Samurai Champloo: The Complete Series [Blu-ray]
    03- Full Metal Panic FUMOFFU – The Complete Series [Blu-ray]
    04- Spirited Away

    Viewing both these feeds using an RSS feed reader (or a browser that supports RSS) results in a properly numerically ordered list. However all this changes if I try to incorporate these feeds on my blog using the WordPress RSS sidebar widget.

    RSS Top 10 Anime & Animation DVDs on Netflix

    * 001- Flushed Away
    * 002- Corpse Bride
    * 003- Princess Mononoke
    * 004- Ponyo

    RSS Top 10 Anime Bestsellers on Amazon.com

    * 07- Hetalia: Axis Powers – The Complete Second Season
    * 01- Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete [Blu-ray]
    * 02- Samurai Champloo: The Complete Series [Blu-ray]
    * 09- Trigun: The Complete Series Box Set

    You see my problem here. The Netflix feed displays nicely in numeric order, but the Amazon feed is totally jumbled up, and I can’t for the life of me figure out why. (To see what I mean go to https://otakunopodcast.com and look at the last two widgets in the right column.)

    Again, fetching/viewing the RSS feed manually results in a properly ordered list in both cases.

    I’ve even gone so far as to try inserting a Yahoo Pipes pipe between Amazon and my blog to forcibly reorder the feed, but even that’s not working, so I don’t think that’s the problem. (either that or my Yahoo Pipes skills are lacking, which is entirely possible).

    I’ve also tried a few third party RSS feed widgets (unfortunately I can’t recall their names off the top of my head) but the resulting behavior was exactly the same as with the WordPress standard RSS widget.

    Does anyone have any ideas as to why it’s doing this, and how (if possible) it can be fixed? Thanks!

    Apparently I didn’t try *all* RSS widgets. In desperation I searched the plugins directory again and happened across “KB Advanced RSS Widget” Tried it, and now my Amazon feed is sorting properly!
