• I’m trying to remove the word/character limit on the excerpt block but the settings for changing the length are not available. See attached image. My main goal is to allow the excerpt to be any length.

  • Hi @jeremyherbwd, where in the editor are you seeing this? If I edit the index template, for example, and click on my excerpt there, I see this. Let us know how you’re getting to the screen you’re on, and we’ll go from there.

Sure, thanks for the response @supernovia!

This is where I’m seeing it: Editor > Templates > (template) > then I add the excerpt block. I have attached a full screenshot of the page/editor.

Strange. The only place I see that is if I go to the style editor (the half circle thing in the top) and search for Excerpt there. That affects the default style settings for excerpt blocks across the site, and it doesn’t include a word count. What’s the wrench icon in the upper right? I don’t have that on mine, and I wonder if your settings are different because of that. Here’s the full screen view of mine:

This is where it’s going to sound odd. It’s not actually being used within a query. It’s being used on pages with the manually entered excerpt. I’m using blockbase theme, that’s what the wrench is for.

The first image is the template editor. The content for the excerpt block is coming from the page editor manual excerpt.

Ah! Thanks, I do see that now on the individual page template. I see the same thing regardless of which theme I’m using. I am guessing that’s a design decision for the block itself: perhaps because you’re already on the page that contains that excerpt, truncating the excerpt may not make sense?
