Stuck at the first hurdle

  • Hello all,

    I`ve just installed WP for the first time and have come unstuck already.

    Where do i get the following from :

    Database Name
    Database Username
    Database Password
    Database Host

    Do i get these from my host? or are they all the same for certain host companys?

    No. Whilst the Database Host may be similar for users on the same server, the Database Name, Database Username and Database Password are specific to you.

    You probably have them by now but just in case, many hosts list these details in the Control Panel so you can find them yourself.

    I couldnt manage to fix this so had to pay somebody ￡20.00 for the privalige…it was because i wasnt given a user name…for future reference where do i get the user name from?

    You would have been given a user name when you installed WordPress. The default user name is admin.

    I tried that is was the database user name that i needed and didnt have it…

    Dont know where the guy who fixed it got it from either…
