#blog vs. .blog

  • As a newcomer, I’m still struggling to figure out all the CSS elements of a WP template.

    Right now if you check out the blog page on my site you’ll see it has a background and page structure from the #blog background image. But when I try to introduce structure and colored/imaged backgrounds to individual posts via .blog it affects basically every div box on every page.

    Right now I’m still working out various validation but is there something basic that will correct this right away? Also, I remain somewhat confused about how to display authors and post titles on the main blog page. I didn’t build this theme and this isn’t even my site, which is why I obviously know so little about everything. I’m just trying to help out a friend who had the site put together by someone else who then sort of walked away from the project halfway through.
