Great theme, thanks. In the three dot menu options for any given gutenberg block there is supposed to be an option to ‘add to reusable blocks’, but for some reason we no longer see that option in our sites that use Blocksy theme. We can go manually to reusable blocks url in wp and see reusable blocks, add to blocks, update/edit blocks.

Just no longer have ability to interact with them via guteberg block editor. Also if you update a reusable block, for example on a page, it normally is supposed to ask if you want to sync the change with the reusable block if it’s a reusable block, but that no longer happens either. So if we update a reusable block on a post/page, it does not sync it with the original reusable block.

Has anyone else encountered this issue?

    Please advise on a solution.

    Thank you ??

  • Hi @wordmax,

Do you happen to have a “manage patterns” option in the … menu from the top right corner? I think WordPress has renamed the option to patterns.

    Thanks.

Yes we see it now. Could be my imagination could not see it before in the right-click add to reusable menu options. I switched tool bar view from top to block editor and then the option to add to RB appeared in the right-click menu.

Anywho it looks like a WP core issue, not a Blocksy issue.

Weird too that WP core does not appear to offer RB option in the widgets gutenberg block editor… but you can always copy and paste code from the list of RB’s.

I use code snippets to add RBs to the admin menu on left which makes it simple easy fast to deal with RBs.

    Thanks

    Hi @wordmax

Indeed, most of these options are controlled by WordPress itself, as a theme would not be able to modify the core menus.

From what I know, they’re planning some big changes so they will definitely shift some things around. In any case, sounds like you’ve already got a solution. ??

    Take care.

Following up on this thread… We still do not see any option to add reusable blocks or ‘patterns’ to the widgets (sidebar) area using gutenberg block editor. In the list of available things to insert, the reusable blocks or patterns does not appear to be an option.

Do you have any further ideas about this? Is it related to Blocksy theme or is it a WP core issue? Thanks

Please advise on a solution to allow us to insert reusable blocks (patterns) in the widget (sidebar) area using the gutenberg block editor.

    Thanks!

    Hello @wordmax

Sadly, this entire process isn’t controlled by us. You may have a plugin or added code that modifies the workflow on your end.

However, maybe you can get back to me with a screen recording of what you’re seeing on your end?

    Thanks.

wp admin > appearance > widgets > sidebar widget > + > see drop-down options for blocks available. No reusable blocks available. No patterns available. See screenshots:

    Hi @wordmax

Oh, I see that you’re trying to add this as a widget. From what I know, this isn’t possible due to a WordPress limitation. You may want to take a look at this plugin – https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/reusable-blocks-extended/ – to use the feature with widgets. However, I cannot promise it will work as we do not have control over its code.

    Hope this clears things up!

    Thanks.
