Hi, I have a salon booking plugin which sets roles, one of which is salon staff. I am trying to set up 2FA for that role. WordFence shows the roles under login security setings and I have activated 2FA with a grace period but when I look at the user profile, it says not allowed under 2FA status and the Login Security option does not come up when that user logs in so they cannot complete the process. I have other users on the site with a role of Editor set up ok with 2FA. I also set up a page with the 2FA management shortcode but when logged in as the salon staff user it said they were not allowed to access it which I sort of expected but gave it a try anyway. Could you help me please on how to get it working on the Salon Staff role? Thank you.

    Hi Mark,

I wondered whether the file I sent found its way to you ok?
    Thank you very much. M

@mar1as, Sorry for the delayed response.

I don’t see anything wrong with your login page. I would therefore, suggest that you try updating your php and WordPress versions. You could also try updating all the outdated plugins.

In some cases Disabling 2FA for the role, saving options, enabling it again and saving the options solves the issue.

If none of the above work, run Wordfence as your only-enabled plugin and revert to a default theme such as Twenty Twenty-Three to see if there’s a plugin or theme conflict causing the issue. If you are now able to use 2fa, re-enable your plugins and theme one by one until the error recurs to help find the plugin causing the conflict.

If the issue persists, please  send us an updated diagnostic report  to [email protected]. You can find the link to do so at the top of the Wordfence Tools > Diagnostics page. Click on “Send Report by Email”

    Thanks,

    Mark.

HI @wfmark, no problem thank you for your help.

I believe from memory everything was up to date when I set up the 2FA a couple of weeks before I raised this ticket. Everything is up to date at the moment but it still doesn’t work. I think it might be something to do with the roles that the booking system sets up. I had already disabled and tried to set the 2FA up again but will give it another go. I will also contact the booking system developer and if I still can’t resolve it will come back to you. Thank you.

    Hi @mar1as,

Are you referring to the Salon Booking WordPress Plugin? Is the Salon Staff role created using the same system?

The Wordfence 2FA and reCAPTCHA features are only supported for the default WordPress/WooCommerce login and registration pages and may not work on custom versions of these pages created manually or by other plugins/themes.

For this reason, 2FA may not work with the booking system.

    Thanks,

    Mark.

    HI @wfmark

Yes that is the one. I have an editor who is using the 2FA ok but I think I created them as a user first and then added them to the booking system. It is the role of salon staff that is giving me the problem. They have less priviliges in what they can see on the booking system and were created from within it. I wonder if I created a new standard user and then added them into the booking system I might be able to get round it. Do you think as soon as I give them the role of salon staff the 2FA would stop working if I had managed to get it set up that way? Thankyou.

    Hi @mar1as,

    Apologies? for the late response.

Are you still experiencing the same challenge? Were you able to contact the booking system developer and what response did they give you?

For custom setups, the only way to confirm whether it works is to test it. Let me know whether creating a new standard user on WordPress and adding them into the booking system worked.

    Thanks,

    Mark

    Hi @mar1as,

    Just checking in.

Could you please confirm whether creating a  new standard user on WordPress and adding them into the booking system worked. I suspect it could be an issue with the way the Custom Salon Booking System creates its roles.

    Thanks,

    Mark.
