On new posts created with WP 6.4.1 and Neve 3.7.3, the featured image is getting cropped, forcing a width of 930px.

    <img width="930" height="620" src="https://docsbasement.com/willmelones/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/Sam-OHare-Danny-Garrett-Million-Dollar-Song-930x620.jpg" class="skip-lazy wp-post-image" alt="Sam O'Hare &amp; Danny Garrett - Million Dollar Song" decoding="async" fetchpriority="high">

Previous posts maintained the original square aspect ratio and generally resized to 620×620. They also included srcset without any intervention on my end (simply uploading the full res image to Media Library).

    Hello @docsbasement,

    Thank you for using Neve!

If you want to change the default featured image size that is set in the theme, you can do it by following this documentation.

I hope this solves your issue.

    Best regards,

Thanks @irinelenache, but I don’t believe that’s the issue. Default featured image size hasn’t changed.

I can use another image previously uploaded to the site, and it appears uncropped and with srcset properties intact. So this is something that appears to happen on upload.

Could this be a deprecated feature or a bug in WordPress 6.4.1?

Thank you for providing more details @docsbasement!

I checked your website and i see images in older posts still use 930 x 620 dimensions.

Also, the issue might be coming from a plugin that optimizes images and resizes them. To troubleshoot the conflict, I recommend deactivating all the plugins one by one and checking if the issue persists.

Let me know how it goes!

Thanks again @irinelenache. I see you are correct about the featured images in other posts being 930 x 620…this was not the case before!

I found the issue does persist even with all plugins deactivated.

I think one of the plugins was overriding Neve’s code to change the featured image size to 620 x 620, and now it’s not doing it anymore. In Neve, the default featured image size is 930 x 620 since the theme was built so there were no changes on our side.

If you have any other issue, please open another ticket in the support forum.

    Have a great day ahead,

    Irinel
