    Hello,

is there any way to activate the old LIVE customizer to the block based themes?

I know that there is a workaround by visiting /wp-admin/customize.php but this is not a live customizer anymore. I need a place to write CSS any see the way it reflects on the page without constantly having to reload the page!
Is there a solution to that? Why we cannot have the old customizer along with FSE themes?

    Thank you in advance!

    Hi @giorgosm

New block themes are designed to work with just the Site Editor instead of the Customizer – as it gives more control and better preview of the changes.

It’s not likely that they’ll return to using thew Customizer to those kind of changes. I do understand it’s a bit of a change – but I can definitely recommend getting familiar with the Block Editor.

    Thanks for the answer!
I am already familiar with the block editor and i use twenty twenty three theme for my projects! I also like to write a lot of CSS and i loved the live customizer cause i could preview the CSS changes without having to reload the page. This does not happen with the site editor though or the theme.json… This was a step back in my opinion and i think a lot of pro users feel this way. Site editor + live customizer would be great. Cheers!

Hey @giorgosm! From what I understand, one of the main goals of the editor would be to get to a point where you don’t really need custom css.

There are some related issues about something similar on the editor’s Gihub repo, that you can look at for some context:
