• Hi,

I was trying to access my admin panel now and I seem to be getting a 404 error. I have NOT made any kind of changes in the recent past.

I did search for this issue, but no joy. There were a couple of things suggested like CHMOD’ing the admin folder, deleting the htaccess file etc, but none of them worked.

    Need help VERY badly.

    My website is https://headbangers.in

    Thanks.

  • You appear to have a redirect problem. Try using https://headbangers.in/wp-login.php

Ok I found out something super weird. Everyone expect for admins are able to access the backend.

I have a few people who write for my website. Some of them are authors and a some are editors. I have gotten them all to test and they are all able to access backend, including subscribers (they are able to access their profiles).

I tried giving them admin access from the database wp_usermeta and after I give them admin access, even they are unable to access it.

    I need help. BADLY !!!

Try manually resetting your plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via FTP or SFTP, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the Default theme (WordPress 1.5 – 2.9.2) or the Twenty Ten theme (WordPress 3.0 and higher) to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can affect the admin panel).

If neither of those resolve the situation, try downloading WordPress again and delete then replace your copies of everything except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings. Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.

I really dont think its an issue with any of the files or the theme. Because it works for everyone, but admins.

And I tried deactivating all plugins and its still the same. So I have no idea what to do now.

Switching themes and replacing core files are all part of basic troubleshooting. Please try it.
