After the latest update today, I noticed a set of significant changes to the NGG displays. On my regular site, the maximum number of thumbnails, and thumbnail sizes changed, and {Show Slideshow] was added. I had a row of five thumbnails for years, now I have four with wider gaps and added borders.

On a current virtual exhibit site, the galleries got totally thrown off. I carefully designed them to show three large thumbnails but not I see one thumbnail:

I reverted the site from a backup, you can see the broken gallery here:

This kind of update can be a major problem. If a quick fix cannot be offered, please provide a quick method of changing all the galleries to how they appeared before.

I restored the site from a backup but the thumbnail sizes and styles are not reverting back. This is very frustrating on a live virtual exhibit! Why do you need to change my gallery display settings for an update?

On my main site I have hundreds of galleries with thousands of image and they are all “broken”.

Something similar here: My Website is broken. Disabling nextgen-gallery brings my page back, but shows nextgen short codes of course.

Had to go back to former version!

(by the way ACEkin: nice photos of Turkey!)

    Hi @acekin,

We appreciate the heads-up, and sorry for the inconveniences created.

We could replicate the problem with the “Gallery Settings” getting reset after updating to NextGen Gallery 3.50 and forwarded the report to our dev team.

Thank you @imagely, but bringing them back will be a big problem for many. I restored my smaller virtual exhibit site but that did not fix the problem. I had to manually go change the settings, add custom CSS, and still could not get rid of the white border from all the images. In the end, I left the border as a compromise. My cached content on my main site is saving me for the time being. But, when I view the uncached content as admin, everything looks very strange with borders, margins, padding, added control for slideshow, etc.

For those who are suffering from the same problem, be prepared to spend a lot of hours fixing this because I could not even find my default thumbnail size listed.

    Tsk, tsk!

I made some progress but I am still not clear from the problem zone. This page has two galleries, I would like you to look at the second gallery:

    https://www.keptlight.com/stepstone-falls-october-2023/

You will see the last row is centered. This is from the cached side content. The same page with my changes to the NGG settings as well as adding a couple of new CSS rules looks almost there but the same gallery has its last row not centered but floated left. I remember dealing with that some years ago, but cannot remember how. See the screen capture:

OK, the successive updates fixed the problem to 98% level. I still had to go back to settings and change a few of them to what they were supposed to be. Now, it is back to normal. On the virtual exhibit site, I disabled update from this point forward as I do not want to break it once more, who knows.

As a piece of information, I am adding another screen capture that shows how the settings came up and how I had to change them.
